SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time | North Shields
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Contract: Starting 6th October – Christmas (likely to extend)
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North Shields. This full-time role is to support a Year 2 pupil with Autism on a 1:1 basis, helping them settle into school and thrive both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism
Deliver tailored learning and social-emotional interventions
Encourage independence, communication, and social skills
Help create a calm, structured, and positive classroom environment
Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external specialists
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs
Knowledge of strategies to support social and emotional development
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support
