Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. This role involves supporting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence. The Support Worker will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for those in their care.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition is maintained.
* Assist with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
* Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
* Implement behaviour management strategies to support clients with specific needs.
* Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
* Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations, including first aid protocols.
* Facilitate transportation for clients as needed, which may include driving them to appointments or social outings.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall quality of life for clients.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is highly desirable, particularly in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice care settings.
* Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and senior care practices is beneficial.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
* A valid driving licence is preferred for roles requiring transportation of clients.
* Certification in first aid or willingness to obtain certification is essential.
