The Role
:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning. Working within a close-knit engineering team, you’ll be designing, testing, and supporting control systems tailored to individual client needs.
1. Your key responsibilities will include:
Creating wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
2. Performing cable sizing and circuit breaker calculations
3. Producing documentation such as I/O schedules, test specs, and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
4. Selecting and specifying instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, and pressure sensors
5. Overseeing testing and occasionally commissioning systems on-site (UK, Europe, Offshore – optional)
6. Collaborating with project managers and other engineers to ensure high-quality, integrated solutions
What We’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
7. A background in Electrical Design Engineering, ideally with control panels or rotating machinery
8. Working knowledge of PLCs, I/O systems, and field instrumentation
9. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or similar)
10. Ability to calculate wiring sizes and select suitable protection
11. A hands-on, curious and personable approach
12. Willingness to be office-based initially, with hybrid flexibility after six months
