The role is based in our Birmingham office and offers exposure to a busy corporate team with opportunities to assist Partners, Senior Associates, and the wider national team on a variety of M&A, capital markets and private equity transactions, as well as company secretarial and management company work for corporates. There is potential to broaden expertise and progress to greater levels of responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Preparing capital allowances reports for tax relief on the purchase and development of commercial properties (e.g., office purchases, hotel redevelopment, or care home construction).
* Surveying properties across sectors such as hospitality, offices, data centres, leisure and industrial properties.
* Carrying out due diligence for property purchases.
* Advising clients on contractual clauses for sale and purchase agreements or analysing cost information for new developments or refurbishments.
Team and Opportunity
Our Corporate team continues to thrive with a well-established client list. With a national team of around 70 corporate lawyers, we advise on various corporate activities across the UK, including transactions with an international angle. The team has been recognised nationally in awards and rankings.
Qualifications
* Degree in law or relevant equivalent, or be working towards a postgraduate legal qualification.
* Ambitious candidate who wishes to progress within a corporate environment; may be a career paralegal seeking advancement, supporting senior lawyers, and developing skills.
Skills and Attributes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Sound legal knowledge and willingness to learn.
* Attention to detail, organised, and good IT skills.
* Discretion, professionalism, teamwork, and flexibility to support transactional activity.
* Experience with DocuSign desirable but not essential.
