Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking Head of Science to lead a successful and ambitious Science Department at a thriving secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire both students and staff, driving continued excellence in science education.
About the Role
As the Head of Science, you will:
1. Provide strategic and inspirational leadership for the Science Department.
2. Oversee the planning and delivery of engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3-5.
3. Lead on curriculum development, assessment, and quality of teaching and learning.
4. Support, develop, and motivate departmental staff to achieve outstanding results.
5. Monitor student progress and implement effective interventions to raise achievement.
6. Manage departmental budgets, resources, and health & safety compliance.
Requirements
7. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a Science-related discipline.
8. Proven experience of delivering excellent classroom practice and raising standards.
9. Experience in a leadership role (Head of Department, Second in Science, or similar).
10. Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
11. A genuine passion for science and commitment to high academic and pastoral standards.
