This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the CAMHS Head2Head Multidisciplinary Team carrying out specialist speech and language therapy assessments and intervention where appropriate to children and young people who are referred to the Head2Head Team predominately via the Youth Justice Pathway. This clinical role requires a high level of clinical expertise and understanding of Neurodiversity including Autism and Developmental Language Disorder and an interest in Social and Emotional Mental Health and Youth Justice.

Please note applicants willbe requiredto pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

The post holder is responsible for providing specialist speech and language assessment, formulation and diagnosis, requiringadvanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection,interpretation and analysis. This will includeindividual language and communication assessment, and intervention where appropriate, supporting and advising the team of any language and communication needs and how these may impact on the CYPs ability to access the wider teams interventions and/or assessments. You will support case discussions and consultations within the team, provide bespoke training and advice where appropriate to the team and as part of the wider CAMHS Speech and Language Therapy Service.

You’ll work directly with young people aged 10–18, many of whom present with complex presentations, including neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma histories, and speech, language, and communication difficulties (SLCN). You'll conduct specialist assessments, deliver tailored interventions, and support staff to embed communication-inclusive approaches across the service.
