Employee working groups The role… We are currently recruiting a Credit Controller to join our Colchester office. We require a candidate who can take ownership of the company’s credit and collections processes, ensuring timely payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and building positive relationships with clients to support effective debt resolution. The selected candidate will be part of a team of five staff members in the Accounts team and will be reporting to the Finance Controller. Please Note : This role may be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance. The selected candidate will… Manage and monitor the debtor ledger. Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone, email, and written communication. Communicate professionally with clients to secure outstanding payments. Resolve client queries and disputes promptly to support such payments. Maintain clear and accurate records of all communications. Prepare and distribute aged debt reports to management. Assist with month-end reporting and accounts receivable reconciliations. Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure all client accounts are accurate and up to date Assist fee earning staff where necessary with an aim to obtaining payment from the clients promptly Meet with client leads on a regular basis Meet with partners to review overall debt position and provide analysis as required Produce Letter before Actions for unpaid Invoices where required Recommend accounts for escalation or legal action when needed. Prepare Court Claim forms where required Undertake other finance duties as may be allocated from time to time. Manage your workload effectively Essential skills, experience, and attributes… Established credit control experience Familiar with Sage 200 accounts Proficient in MS office – Excel, Word & Outlook.
