Job Summary

This role will involve line management of officers in the Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team. You will be responsible for the delivery of services relating to housing standards in the private sector, and manage the responsive and proactive enforcement of relevant housing and environmental legislation to safeguard residents and neighbourhoods. Managers are required to manage a programmed inspection regime for private rented properties. You will work with a range of partners to tackle the impact of poor landlords in the private rented sector and on neighbourhoods.


Responsibilities

* Line manage officers in the Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team.
* Deliver services relating to housing standards in the private sector.
* Manage the responsive and proactive enforcement of housing and environmental legislation.
* Manage a programmed inspection regime for private rented properties.
* Collaborate with partners to address poor landlords and protect neighbourhoods.
* Work closely with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to address housing disrepair and safety matters.


Qualifications

* Qualified to degree level or equivalent, in a discipline related to the local government regulatory environment, e.g. Environmental Health or Trading Standards.
* Have a full valid driving licence if driving is required.
* Provide own car for work use if designated as Casual Car User, including necessary documentation and insurance.
* Clearance: BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.


Additional Requirements

The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

BPSS checks involve verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check.
