What will you be doing?
You’ll be taking full responsibility for the strategic management of the Powertrain commodity deck. This will be a multi-million £ spend spread across a predominantly UK centric supply base with a small number of suppliers in the EU and Far East. Whilst there is no direct line management responsibility in this role you will be expected to manage the workload across a number of Senior Buyers and Buyers. This is an area of the business that is expected to see plenty of innovation and change over the coming years so you’ll need to ensure significant planning is undertaken to allow movement in your supply chain with these changes. Your primary focus will be on delivery of materials on time, in the right quantity and at the right cost through strategic sourcing/supplier selection, negotiation/cost reduction/total cost optimisation and supplier development. Secondary role is to help coaching, mentor and develop best practise across supply chain management.

What do you need to bring to the party?
To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills and experience:
7. Strong background in procurement Commodity Management – this can come from any manufacturing/engineering sector but it would be highly advantageous if it happened to include powertrain, metals or complex mechanical engineered parts.
8. Excellent track record of delivering total cost of acquisition savings and leading complex negotiations
9. Ability to build effective, lasting working relationships, internally, externally and cross-functionally
10. Proven effective communicator – able to adapt styles to suit the audience
11. Project management skills and experience would also be viewed favourably
