Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. The role involves developing mechatronic systems to improve aerodynamics testing for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize solutions that address technical challenges and contribute to the company's competitiveness.
Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and integrate complex mechatronic systems for automotive and aerodynamic testing applications.
2. Create detailed system architectures and specifications.
3. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop innovative solutions.
4. Coordinate with external suppliers to select appropriate components.
5. Conduct system testing, analysis, and debugging to ensure performance and reliability.
6. Oversee delivery of prototypes and production solutions, including mechanical design, PCB layout, firmware/software integration, and testing.
7. Prepare technical reports, specifications, and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
* 5+ years of experience in mechatronics engineering.
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software integration.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA).
* Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and programming languages (C, C++, Python).
* Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, and power electronics.
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred:
* Master's degree in relevant fields.
* Experience with automotive, motorsports, or aerodynamics testing.
* Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
* Expertise in CAD and mechanical design.
* Knowledge of control systems and theory.
