Job title: Legal Counsel Location\: Rochester Salary: £85,000 depending on experience with 12.5% bonus plus £550 car allowance per month What you’ll be doing: Provide generalist English law advice to the relevant Line of Business, Function and/or Head Office Department Advising on contract matters, including with customers and suppliers as well as collaboration agreements, non disclosure agreements and other agreement areas and legal policy issues, including on compliance Supporting broader legal issues arising within the business, and where necessary liaising with specialist lawyers, for example on intellectual property, data privacy and dispute resolution matters Help ensure compliance and risk mitigation directly and through the provision of appropriate assistance to the Compliance team with all applicable legal requirements including\: health and safety; procurement law; UK, US and international export controls; anti-bribery and corruption controls; trade controls; and ethical business conduct as each applies to the Rochester Business Centre (RBC) and the RBC product portfolio Manage the provision of external legal support to the business to deliver the highest quality of legal advice in a timely and cost-effective manner Contribute fully as a member of the Electronic Systems and global legal community and leverage/share knowledge and capability accordingly including effective collaboration across the function and business to help deliver strategy Your skills and experiences: Essential: Extensive understanding of commercial legal and business practice ideally in a range of international markets Expert understanding of contract law, public procurement, anti-bribery and corruption, intellectual property and data protection Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales with good graduate qualifications and significant experience in a law firm/appropriate in-house experience Desirable: Experience of concluding major transactions in an international environment Benefits: As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts - you may also be eligible for an annual incentive. The Legal and Compliance Team: The role is within BAE Systems Inc.’s Electronic Systems sector, part of the Legal and Compliance team and based at the Rochester Business Centre (RBC) in Kent. The RBC is responsible for business development, contracting, design, production and contract delivery of key product lines within BAE Systems Electronic Systems.
