General Practitioner Maternity Leave Cover

The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations with a mixture of telephone or face to face, home visits, checking and signing prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.

Contribute to successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.


Main duties of the job

* Providehigh quality patient care including prevention, screening, treatment,management of chronic conditions and health promotion
* Developcare and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with currentPractice protocols as well as wider guidance e.g. NICE
* Carryout face to face, telephone and video consultations and undertake home visits
* Speakand see patients promptly and in a timely manner in order to minimise waitingtimes.
* Ensure appropriate follow up with patients
* Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries
* Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance
* Deal promptly with results and correspondence, clearly communicating any actions that are required
* Provide cover as needed, for all of the above, when other GPs are on leave
* When providing care ensure the judicious use of resources and NHS funds
* Keep clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes and patient records to agreed standards and in-line with practice policies
* Other day to day Responsibilities within the Organisation
* Demonstrate an awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant Practice policies/guidelines e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
* Demonstrate a commitment and contribution to clinical governance processes including significant event review

About us

We are a well-established practice with a patient list of approximately 9,800.Our teamincludes 4 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 ClinicalPharmacists, a Pharmacy Technician, a dedicated Nursing team, a supportiveManagement team, and an excellent Admin/Reception staff.

As a trainingpractice, we host an in-house educational session every 5 weeks and activelyparticipate in the quarterly Surrey Heath Educational Day (SHED). Clinicalstaff are entitled to one week of study leave per year, pro-rata.

We hold dailyreferrals meetings as well as a mid-morning coffee and clinical discussionsmeeting. Our practice works collaboratively with the Primary Care Network andneighbouring practices.

We value teamwellbeing and regularly organise social and wellbeing events, such as ourannual Summer BBQ and Christmas party. Free on-site parking is available, andwe offer membership to the NHS Pension Scheme.

Person Specification


Experience

* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent keyboard and computer skills.
* Understanding of clinical Governance and quality issues, as well as health and social policy.
* Competent in the use of GP clinical IT systems.
* Ability to listen and empathise.
* Good time management.
* Problem solving and a 'solutions-focused' approach.
* Sound clinical skills.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.


Qualifications

* 4 GCSEs (C and above) including English and Maths or equivalent
* Qualified GP and full registration
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent (JCPTGP)
* Member of recognised defence union (MPS,MDU)
* Currently on performers' list
* Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners
* Never been removed from a performers' list
