The Sperry Marine Engineering Team based in New Malden in the UK and Hamburg in Germany, have responsibility for the development and maintenance of Sperry Marine’s wide product portfolio, and ambitious development roadmap.
We are a truly multidisciplinary team, with engineers from electronics, software, mechanical, system engineering and system test backgrounds all working in integrated teams to develop best in class products and solutions.
To support our ambitious roadmap and growth plans we are actively increasing the size our teams, creating the opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join us!
Key responsibilities of this role include:
1. Action Engineering Change Orders
2. Contribute to the creation of Work packages for outsourcing activities in the mechanical design.
3. Production of mechanical designs, documentation, drawings and 3D models.
4. Modification of older drawings, creation of new drawings and 3D models
5. Liaise with PLM, Electronics Design Team, System Testing, Supply Chain and Production.
6. Full Hands-on development
7. Work with Mechanical Chief Engineer, Mechanical Team Lead and Engineering Manager
8. High level technical documentation
9. Maintenance of the mechanical files database
10. Maintain the CAD software and Windchill PDM licenses
11. Create technical descriptions for Publications (manuals and datasheets)
Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
12. Understands Geometrical Tolerances
13. Good understanding of the Design Process
14. Competent to check and review drawings, documents and BOM’s
15. To author Technical Documentation to meet Customer requirements
16. Experience with Manufacturing processes and techniques
17. Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements
18. Experience test methods for Shock, Vibration, Ingress, Environmental (Hot, Cold & Humidity), EMC
Specialist Knowledge
19. Knowledge of Creo 8.0 and PDM Link 11.0
20. Experience with mechanical simulation (FEA)
21. Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor
22. Understanding of marine navigation equipment, and marine radar (optional)
23. 3-5 years mechanical development
24. Degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering

25. Good communicator and able to influence thinking/get point across
26. Able to present and summarise complex information to a wide audience
27. Self-sufficient and self-motivated approach
28. Able to assess priorities and order their own work
29. Security clearance and right to work in the UK required
