Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum (pro rata, term time)

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Chef to join the catering team on a part-time, permanent basis. This role is ideal for an experienced chef who is passionate about preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for children within a school environment.
The successful candidate will take pride in delivering balanced, appealing meals, maintaining high food safety standards, and contributing positively to the school community. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure a positive and inclusive dining experience for pupils and staff.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals that meet nutritional guidelines for children
*
Ensure meals are balanced, appealing, and appropriate for pupils and staff
*
Cater for a range of dietary requirements, including allergies, medical needs, vegetarian, halal, and kosher diets
*
Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and service
*
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times
*
Monitor food storage, stock levels, and deliveries, minimising waste where possible
*
Keep accurate food safety, temperature, and cleaning records
*
Train, supervise, and support kitchen assistants
*
Support school events and special functions involving catering
*
Communicate effectively with school staff and, where required, liaise regarding dietary needs
Role Requirements

Proven experience working in a kitchen or catering environment
*
Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety standards
*
Ability to work early mornings and school hours
*
Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
*
A positive attitude and commitment to providing high-quality service
Desirable:

Experience working in a school or similar setting
*
Food safety certification (training can be provided)
