Adecco Property Services Specialist Division North is delighted to be partnering exclusively with Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust in recruiting for a permanent Health and Safety Officer to work in their offices in the York area.
Purpose
The post-holder will work within the Health and Safety Team to deliver occupational health and safety across all group operations in line with the HASAWA, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are achieved. This role reports to the Head of Health and Safety.
Duties
1. Contribute to and deliver on key health and safety objectives and projects in line with the team's annual plan, promoting a positive and compliant health and safety culture.
2. Make recommendations and develop solutions to problems within your scope to minimize non-compliance risks.
3. Review and adhere to health and safety arrangements to ensure legislative compliance and act as a role model.
4. Develop and implement monitoring of health and safety activities and documentation.
5. Provide support and technical advice to managers, including incident investigations and operational reporting.
6. Communicate effectively about legislation, policies, and standards to stakeholders.
7. Design, deliver, and review health and safety training materials.
8. Maintain relationships with stakeholders and promote a positive safety culture.
9. Support compliance tasks such as fire drills, safety processes, and documentation in various offices.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in a health and safety environment, preferably within social housing or the public sector.
* Qualifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, or related fields.
* Willingness to develop expertise in areas like construction, fire safety, and COSHH.
* Full UK driving license.
* Customer-focused with integrity, accountability, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* £35,080 annual salary (negotiable).
