Offer description

Overview

London Borough of Camden, rated Outstanding by the CQC Assurance framework, is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker to join the new Mental Health Social Work Team in Adult Social Care. You will represent social work in a network of professionals across an integrated setting and confidently manage your own social care workload.

Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality, community-based mental health social care and support, collaborating with health, social and voluntary service colleagues to ensure residents with mental illness and their families receive timely, holistic assessments of needs, balancing risk and maximising protective factors.
* Manage your own workload and resources, respond to unexpected events and crises, and recognise and act on signs of harm, abuse, and neglect to safeguard vulnerable adults.
* Support individuals with various mental health diagnoses using Camden’s strength-based What Matters approach, focusing on core social work values, recovery and trauma-informed care.
* Offer short-term support to address immediate concerns and develop long-term relationships to help individuals and their support networks maintain good mental health and build meaningful lives.
* Coordinate Mental Health Act assessments and participate in Camden’s AMHP Duty Rota (if already AMHP qualified); if not, be willing to undertake AMHP training.
* Represent social work across different settings and work as part of a multi-professional integrated team to support residents and their families.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

All About You / Qualifications

* You must be a qualified Social Worker with suitable qualifying experience and be registered with Social Work England.
* A thorough understanding of the Care Act 2014 and current mental health legislation and its application, and a commitment to promoting the best interests of residents and carers.
* Ability to assess situations, determine their nature and severity, and take appropriate action based on professional knowledge and experience.
* Promote and embed a strengths-based approach to Social Work and contribute to a collaborative, reflective team environment.
* If not already qualified, be willing to complete AMHP Training.
* There are opportunities for post-qualifying study (e.g., Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor and Approved Mental Health Practitioner).
