Avondale Foods is a leading food manufacturing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Morrison's and Waitrose in the UK.
The purpose of this role is to assist the General Manager in ensuring that maximum production efficiency and product quality are met while adhering to food safety regulations and hygiene procedures. To lead by example and ensure that you and your team are adhering to company policies and procedures in relation to Product Quality, Food Safety and Integrity.
Key Responsibilities
· Be audit-ready at all times
· Maintain all documentation necessary for internal and external audits
· Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP
· Ensure all records and reports are uptodate
· Lead the department during audits, addressing any issues / findings promptly
· Direct and supervise the activities of all staff
· Conduct scheduled training for team members on food safety practises and compliance requirements with appropriate sign-offs completed
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate food safety risks with particular emphasis on lean boards
· Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans to address food safety and compliance
· Create a departmental culture of excellence, integrity and collaboration; implement a "do the right thing" mentality in all interactions
· Maintain efficient production schedules and use OEE's to drive performance
· Set and implement high standards of manufacturing and production processes
· Plan labour costs by effectively managing holidays and staff rotas
· Control and manage packaging materials and labels
· Address all audit related issues relating to process and quality arising from internal and external customer complaints and audits.
· Utilise AX, Autocoding, Sparc Systems in the production process
· Manage yield and waste by monitoring the use of raw materials and packaging and overseeing effective stock rotation and control
· Ensure accurate completion of production documents such as production records, wash tanks, start-up checks, knife control, scale checks, metal detections, etc.
· Create a departmental culture of excellence, integrity and collaboration; implement a "do the right thing" mentality in all interactions
· Investigate, monitor, implement Company's standards on Food Safety and Health and Safety
· Implement all company policies and procedures
· People management – ensure that internal procedures in relation to disciplinaries, grievances, probationary reviews, absence reviews etc are adhered to and actioned
· Lead by example by adhering to Company policies, in relation to Food Safety, Quality and Health & Safety

Essential Criteria
Fluent level of both verbal and written English
Minimum 3 years' experience within a similar in a food manufacturing environment
IT Literate
Level 3 Food Safety
Desirable Criteria
Recognised qualifications in English and Maths – GCSE Grade C or equivalent
Leadership and people management experience
Proficient in MS suite of packages
Level 3 Health & Safety
