Overview:
Our client, a dynamic and rapidly expanding business, focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects, across the utility and social infrastructure sectors, are now looking for an Intermediate Estimator to join their team.
Job Description:
1. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
2. Collaborate with various departmental functions to ensure tender returns are accurately priced, commercially sound, and technically detailed
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other professionals to foster future tender success and new client opportunities
4. Prepare and present detailed tender cost build-ups, ensuring strict timescales are maintained throughout the tendering process
5. Support the transition between the tender phase and project handover, ensuring smooth communication with project delivery teams
6. Continuously monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates to maintain up-to-date pricing information
7. Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and maximise value
8. Contribute to the development of estimating processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
Experience:
9. Minimum of 2 years' experience in the construction industry, preferably with a background in Social Housing
10. Knowledge of the JCT & ACA suite of contracts
11. Ability to 'take off' from design drawings, interpret specifications, and prepare Bills of Quantities
12. Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail
13. Proficiency in estimating software and aptitude to learn
14. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
15. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
16. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
17. Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field are desirable
