Job Title: Pupil Support Assistant (2)
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or senior member of staff to support children and young people who have been identified as requiring additional support.
You will be required to:
1. Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
2. Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
3. Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication and offer high levels of personal care, including toileting, administering medication in line with training procedures, and encouraging self-help and independence.
4. Carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy programmes.
5. Support pupil/child mobility (as defined by moving and handling training) on an emergency/short-term basis and for low-level needs, such as toileting or supporting a short-term injury like a broken leg.

Qualification, Registration, and Skill Requirements

* Good interpersonal skills and abilities to work effectively as part of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
* Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before confirming your appointment, and maintain your registration.
* Qualifications: 2 National 5’s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades, or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
* Must apply to register with SSSC within 3 months of employment and maintain registration (applicable for Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools).
* For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools: NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve these within the first registration period.
