Head of Health & Safety (with Environmental & Quality Oversight)
Mansfield + UK travel (Coventry & field-based)
£60,000 – £65,000 + £7,000 car allowance + bonus + PMI + 25+8 days holiday
H&S-led role: approx. 70% Health & Safety, 20% Environmental, 10% Quality.

Our client is a global leader supporting retail and logistics operations, including warehouse distribution, field-service engineers, recycling/processing and shopfitting project teams.
We’re recruiting a hands-on Head of Health & Safety to lead H&S across these high-activity environments.
This is a practical, operational role focused on workforce engagement, coaching, culture change and improving safety standards across warehouse teams, van-based engineers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety – Primary Focus (70%)
*
Lead H&S across warehouse, logistics, engineering-service and recycling operations.
*
Drive culture change, improving engagement with supervisors, operatives and field engineers.
*
Manage risk assessments, SSoWs, RAMS, PUWER, LOLER and machinery safety.
*
Oversee H&S for mobile workers, lone working, vehicle movement and client-site activity.
*
Deliver H&S training, toolbox talks and behavioural-safety initiatives.
*
Lead accident/incident investigations and close out corrective actions.
*
Support shopfitting teams and contractors completing retail installation work.
Environmental – Secondary (20%)
*
Maintain environmental permits and ensure compliance (waste, emissions, discharge).
*
Conduct environmental audits, training and reporting.
Quality – Light Responsibility (10%)
*
Maintain ISO9001 compliance and coordinate internal audits.
*
Support customer audits and service-quality improvements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
*
Strong Health & Safety leadership in logistics, warehousing, engineering, field-service or multi-site work.
*
Proven experience influencing shopfloor teams, supervisors and remote workers.
*
Solid understanding of PUWER, LOLER, machinery safety and contractor management.
*
Experience managing environmental compliance or waste operations.
*
NEBOSH General Certificate minimum (Diploma/Grad/CMIOSH desirable).
Desirable

Experience maintaining an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
*
Background supporting retail supply chain, distribution or engineering services.
