Senior Bridge Engineer/Senior Structures Engineer opportunity with Amey Consulting in Scotland. This is a permanent role with design hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen, and additional office space in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn and Huntly.

The Opportunity
We have a permanent Senior Structures Engineer/Senior Bridge Engineer role to join our Amey Consulting team in Scotland.
Amey manages long-term contracts on the Southwest and Northeast Trunk Road Network Management, with eight-year contracts extendable up to 12 years, plus a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges and transportation/civil design projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities and contractors across the country. These contracts provide opportunities for technical, engineering and professional design staff at all career stages to work on challenging projects for Scotland’s arterial road network.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team, delivering technically sound engineering solutions and provide support to the Design Team Leader on a variety of structures schemes.
* Take ownership and lead projects from start to finish (from quotation through to handover).
* Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost and programme criteria.
* Supervise junior staff and take responsibility for their actions; contribute to their professional development and act as a Delegated Engineer.
* Interface with client and supplier representatives at peer level; attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
* Manage a small, locally based single-discipline technical team and deliver their workload; contribute to bids and general work-winning activities.
* Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team.
What You Will Bring To Us
* Developed experience and expertise in the Structures field, typically in an Engineering role or equivalent.
* Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions, complying with relevant standards and client requirements.
* Ownership for preparation and checking of deliverables to a reasonable standard.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
* Good commercial awareness; understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
* Experience in hazard and risk management on projects with appropriate mitigation and transfer applied.
* Understanding of interface management and ensuring alignment with other disciplines’ deliverables.
* Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE (or equivalent professional licence) is desirable and may be essential on certain contracts.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
