About this opportunity
Do you enjoy working outdoors, improving local places, and making a visible difference in your community? We're looking for a Parks & Open Spaces Technician to join our dedicated team, helping to keep our parks, play areas, allotments and public open spaces clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
This is a rewarding, hands‑on role where no two days are the same — from site inspections and maintenance tasks to supporting volunteers and community groups.
What you'll be doing
As a Parks & Open Spaces Technician, you will:
* Carry out regular inspections of parks, play areas, allotments and public open spaces, ensuring they meet required standards.
* Assist with routine safety checks of play equipment and infrastructure (full training provided).
* Support the management of allotments, including inspections, liaising with plot holders and helping with tenancy arrangements.
* Undertake practical site management and maintenance tasks across Council‑owned spaces.
* Work closely with volunteers, schools and community groups on a variety of environmental projects.
* Contribute to community events and engagement activities.
* Provide guidance and support to less experienced staff and apprentices when required.
What we're looking for

* Is organised, reliable, proactive and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
* Can work well as part of a team and build positive relationships with community groups and volunteers.
* Is comfortable using digital systems for recording inspections and actions.
* Can be flexible, including occasional weekend work when needed.
* Has a strong awareness of health & safety and a commitment to safe working practices.
