Main Purpose of the Role

As a Civil Engineering Planner, you will prepare and articulate competent, scalable project plans that comply with company procedures and functional standards. You will work closely with technical, commercial, and safety teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

* Health, Safety & Environmental: Promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE (Safety, Health, Quality & Environment) department.

* Team Collaboration: Work in a purposeful and well-organised manner with other team members to gather, analyse, and communicate project requirements.

* Scope Definition: Research project information and summarise it clearly to communicate the work scope to all stakeholders.

* Programme Development: Create, maintain, and update a resourced programme, including ongoing reviews of outcomes for conformance with expectations and requirements.

* Risk Management: Contribute to the project risk register and undertake programme-level risk analysis to identify and mitigate potential delays.

* Method Planning: Prepare visual material (e.g., Gantt charts, logic diagrams) to support planned construction methods and sequencing.

* Resource Scheduling: Develop and maintain resource schedules for use during internal and client reviews.

* Documentation Control: Maintain all project planning documentation in an orderly fashion, ensuring that file structures and version control adhere to company standards.

* Bid & Tender Support:

o Set up a bid preparation programme and maintain the tender queries database.

o Collaborate with the estimator and supply chain to develop methods and establish competitive outputs when preparing proposals.

* Design Liaison: Liaise with the design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works and ensure the build-ability sequence is fully integrated into the overall programme.

* Knowledge Sharing & Training: Act as a planning community liaison—communicating key planning updates, lessons learned, and best practices between project teams. Provide coaching, support, and formal training to junior planners and others as required.

* Additional Duties: Undertake other relevant duties as required from time to time to ensure project success and continuous improvement.

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering planning or a similar role, preferably within infrastructure or heavy civils projects.

* Proficiency in industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject).

* Strong understanding of programming logic, resource levelling, and risk modelling.

* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and translate it into clear, concise programmes.

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively at all levels (internal and external stakeholders).

* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices, and experience aligning project plans with HSE requirements.

* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

* Experience supporting bid/tender processes, including the development of tender programmes and responding to client queries.

* Full driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations as required.

Benefits & Compensation

• Salary range €65,000 – €85,000 per annum, plus a €7,000 car allowance
• Potential top end up to €90,000 (dependent on experience)
