Head of Cost Engineering – Major Projects Portfolio
Location: Derby (3 Days per week)
Salary: £90,000 - £110,000p/a
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Head of Cost Engineering to join a high-profile organisation delivering a multi-billion-pound portfolio of complex infrastructure and capital projects.
This is a senior leadership role that will shape and lead the cost management strategy across a nationally significant programme, with a focus on driving value, consistency, and commercial rigour throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop the cost engineering function across a diverse portfolio of major projects.
* Provide strategic cost advice and insights to executive stakeholders and programme directors.
* Develop and maintain industry-leading cost estimation, reporting, and control frameworks.
* Ensure robust processes for cost benchmarking, value engineering, risk analysis, and change control.
* Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of cost professionals.
* Foster close collaboration with project controls, procurement, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure integrated and effective delivery.
1. Requirements:
* Extensive experience in a senior cost engineering or commercial leadership role within major infrastructure or capital projects.
* Strong technical knowledge of cost estimation, cost control, and earned value management.
* Proven leadership and team development skills.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking capabilities.
