Location: Stamford & Nottingham Temp basis for 12 monthsWe are seeking a hands-on Powertrain Test & Validation Engineer to support the development and validation of electric powertrain systems, focusing on Power Electronics (PE) and Motor/Generator (MG) technologies.The role acts as the key technical interface between the design engineering team and test facilities, ensuring accurate execution of validation activities, high-quality data capture, and effective root cause analysis of system issues.This position is highly practical, data-driven, and collaborative, requiring strong test execution capability combined with analytical problem-solving skills in an automotive electrification environment.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute and manage daily powertrain test cell activities (setup, commissioning, execution, teardown)Develop and execute test procedures for validation of PE + MG systemsTranslate engineering requirements into structured test plans and validation activitiesSupport instrumentation setup, DAQ configuration, and test rig readinessCollect, validate, and ensure integrity of test data prior to releasePerform post-processing and analysis using MATLAB and/or ANSYS toolsInvestigate system/component failures and perform structured root cause analysisApply Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and structured problem-solving methodologiesWork closely with design and simulation teams to correlate test vs simulation resultsGenerate technical reports and present findings clearly to engineering stakeholdersManage hardware changes, spare parts readiness, and test configuration updatesEnsure compliance with test standards and quality requirements throughout validation cyclesRequired Skills & ExperienceExperience in powertrain testing or electrical validation environmentsStrong exposure to Power Electronics and/or Motor/Generator systemsHands-on experience with test execution, instrumentation, and data acquisition systemsExperience in failure analysis and structured troubleshootingAbility to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into test setupsExperience working in automotive, EV, aerospace, or heavy engineering environments (preferred)Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.Software Requirements Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Strongly Preferred: MATLAB / Simulink, Ansys, PCAN (or equivalent CAN tools)New Appointments Group, Expertly Matching Employers and Jobseekers since 1975.Before submitting your CV, please take a moment to check the layout, spelling, and grammar.
