About the role This is a great opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding team. With experience in a similar role you will work on a portfolio of different projects,expanding the capability in the region and supporting the ongoing activities of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. Explain the ambition of the team and how this role will contribute The role will be based from with our London or Guildford office, but we do operate a hybrid working environment which provides opportunity to work from any of our other UK offices and from home Core responsibilities Engineer Responsible for delivering a variety of design packages, as well as technical and engineering aspects of major or complex projects Draws on technical knowledge and experience to independently develop the most effective solutions for less routine engineering problems Takes on role of Project Manager for smaller or routine projects, leading project meetings and managing client interactions Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a project team including allocating and checking work and providing feedback on performance. Coordinates activities with colleagues and team members to meet deadlines and achieve set targets in the most effective and efficient way Ensures junior team members are adhering to delivery standards and ensures essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own industry. Provides recommendations on resourcing (people) requirements for specific projects to more senior team members Leads the development and submission of proposals for routine, low risk projects and contributes to the development of proposals for moderately complex projects Develops business by maintaining client relationships and ensuring client loyalty and repeat work through excellent customer service and delivery. Skills, Experience and Qualifications Honours degree in relevant discipline required Chartered Engineer or near Chartered status (MICE, MIStructE). Knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry Experience of working within a 3D design environment is essential and an ability to work to BIM protocols would be desirable. Preferential knowledge and experience with design work associated with Water and Wastewater Treatment plants. Basic understanding of other specific multi-disciplines specifically process design and MEICA. Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts preferable ( JCT, NEC) Application of Engineering principles Design Development Computer Aided Design and Modelling Experience of managing small projects beneficial Supervising, mentoring or developing less experienced engineers Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
