Join to apply for the Manufacturing Technical Lead role at Thompson Aero Seating Limited.
The post holder will be responsible for leading in their environment, with extensive knowledge of Vacuum Forming/CNC machining processes and programming. They will be integral for shop floor problem solving and improvements, with a key focus on training of other stakeholders, to ensure the department is equipped with a skilled cross functional team.
The successful candidate will work a 3-shift rotation pattern:
* Week 1 - Night Shift: 22:00 – 06:15 (Sunday to Thursday)
* Week 2 - Evening Shift: 14:00 – 22:15 (Monday – Friday)
* Week 3 - Day Shift: 06:00 – 14:15 (Monday to Friday)
Responsibilities
* Operate several CNC Machines / Vacuum Forming Machines to produce high quality components, ensuring production deadlines are met, efficiently, safely and to appropriate quality standards.
* Train other stakeholders and maintain documentation.
* Identify training gaps and implement training plan to address.
* Use problem solving skills to maximise machine capabilities and eliminate waste during machining/forming.
* First point of contact on the shop floor for all machining issues including quality, programming and machine maintenance issues.
* Liaise with the Programming/CAD department to discuss improvements to add value to the machining/forming process.
* Check and maintain machinery/tooling daily to ensure functionality and liaise with Maintenance for any issues affecting quality and production.
* Understand specifications of tasks using engineering drawings.
* Inspect and measure finished products to determine if the process has been completed properly.
* Liaise with Lead/Manager to ensure high standards of work and on-time delivery according to business needs.
* Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
* Ensure Health & Safety standards are adhered to.
* Escalate issues to management as required.
* Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.
* Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working area.
* Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure processes and Work Instructions are kept up to date.

Requirements
Essential
* 1+ years’ experience in Vacuum Forming/ CNC Trimming/ Tooling Manufacture
* Minimum grade C in English and Maths GCSE
* Previous experience of leading or guiding other stakeholders
* Strong IT skills - particularly in MS Office
* Working knowledge of MRP
* Excellent organisational skills
* Adaptable to change and varying situations
* Ability to show resilience and a flexible approach
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable
* Line Management experience
* A self-starter with strong communication skills and a diplomatic approach
* Previous experience of production planning
* Previous experience of training other stakeholders and documenting progress
* Working knowledge of H&S
