Electrical Test Operations Engineer
Location: Oxford
Contract: 6 months with possible extension. Hours: Shift work Monday to Sunday – rotating double day or rotating Early/Late/Nights.
Clearance: SC required before start. Rate: 37 per hour via Umbrella (inside IR35) plus 20% shift uplift.
What you’ll be doing:
* Executing electrical and functional test procedures on engineering test benches and flight spacecraft.
* Using the Central Checkout System (CCS), Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Spacecraft Check Out Equipment (SCOE) to support test activities.
* Validating test-aids, break-out boxes, cables, etc.
* Updating test procedures, raising work orders, test reports and other test documentation.
* Developing and debugging Automatic Test procedures (ATP) using a bespoke high-level software language.
* Supporting electrical integration, automated and manual tests at unit, subsystem and system level.
* Contributing to spacecraft electrical test during environmental test and launch activities.
* Working within company and departmental procedures and standards.
* Designing and manufacturing electrical test aids, preparing drawings, manufacturing packs and overseeing procurement and validation.
* Running day‑to‑day departmental tasks such as test equipment recall, calibration, test campaign logistics and export rating.
Requirements:
* Electrical integration of equipment on a test bench or spacecraft.
* Competent use of test equipment for electrical and RF measurements (DMM, oscilloscope, signal generator, current probes, DAU, power meter, network analyser, data bus monitors).
* Basic knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and communications standards (1553, Spacewire, Star Trackers, Gyros, Momentum Wheels, Power systems, batteries, Solar Arrays, Thermal Control).
* Experience using a wide range of electrical test equipment and test racks.
* Executing test sequences/scripts on CCS, including minor updates.
* Electrical fault investigation and test debug.
* Environmental and launch test campaigns experience.
* Updating test procedures, writing work orders, test reports and supporting non‑conformance reviews.
* Minimum of an HNC or NVQ Level 4 in Electrical Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience >5 years.
