Berry Recruitment are urgently seeking an experienced Thermal Plant Operator. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a leading Energy‑from‑Waste facility and play a key role in safe, efficient plant operations.
The Role
As a Thermal Plant Operator, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the EfW facility, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations across all modes - including steady state, start‑up, shutdown and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with Environmental Permit requirements
Report any non‑compliance or incidents to the Shift Team Leader
Follow all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures
Participate in site HSE initiatives and forums
Work closely with the Maintenance Team to optimise plant performance
Coach and mentor new team members on EfW operations
Complete accurate shift handovers, logs and maintenance requests
Shift Pattern
2 Days / 3 Nights / 4 Off / 3 Days / 2 Nights / 5 Off / 2 Days / 2 Nights / 12 Off A rotating pattern covering both days and nights.
Candidate Requirements
WAMITAB Level 4 (desirable)
Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
Proven experience operating Energy‑from‑Waste facilities
Knowledge of combustion and boiler processes
Excellent problem‑solving ability
Strong communication and mentoring skills
Commitment to continuous improvement and KPI delivery
