Business development manager

Offer description

Taylor Hopkinson, a Brunel company, is a trusted partner to the world’s leading clean energy and cleantech companies. With a presence in over 45 countries, we deliver top-tier talent across the full project lifecycle — from development to decommissioning — across offshore wind, biogas, anaerobic digestion (AD) and energy-from-waste. As global investment in circular energy and decarbonisation accelerates, we are expanding our Glasgow team and are seeking a commercially focused Business Development Manager to grow our presence across Biogas, AD, Energy-from-Waste and adjacent cleantech markets within the EMEA region. This role is designed for a senior commercial professional who thrives on opening markets, winning strategic accounts and owning revenue growth — rather than day-to-day delivery. You will join a diverse, high-performing and inclusive business with an open, entrepreneurial culture and a sector-leading employee engagement score. We reward impact and ownership through clear progression, a competitive commission structure, and high-profile incentive trips. Flexible working, international travel and attendance at major industry events are actively encouraged. As a Business Development Manager at Taylor Hopkinson, you will take ownership of new business generation, strategic account growth and market expansion across biogas, AD, energy-from-waste and wider cleantech technologies. You will operate as a trusted commercial partner to developers, owners/operators, EPCs, technology providers, utilities, investors and advisors, positioning Taylor Hopkinson as the recruitment partner of choice across the full project lifecycle. While supported by global delivery teams, this role is focused on sales leadership: opening doors, securing retained and exclusive mandates, shaping long-term frameworks and driving sustainable revenue growth. Key Responsibilities Owning and delivering a defined commercial growth strategy across Biogas, AD and Energy-from-Waste markets Winning new client accounts and securing retained, exclusive and multi-hire mandates Developing senior relationships with C-suite, commercial, technical and investment decision-makers Expanding existing accounts into new geographies, technologies and project phases Identifying market entry opportunities, emerging technologies and investment trends within cleantech Mapping industry ecosystems across developers, utilities, funds, EPCs, OEMs, regulators and associations Acting as a visible market presence and brand ambassador at conferences, trade events and client meetings Collaborating with delivery, research and marketing teams to ensure commercial commitments are converted into results Maintaining full ownership of client relationships, commercial terms and ongoing account strategy Providing structured market intelligence and commercial insight to senior leadership Contributing to the long-term growth strategy and future build-out of cleantech-focused teams Proven experience in business development, commercial management or sales leadership, ideally within energy, cleantech, infrastructure, engineering or technical services A demonstrable track record of winning new business and growing strategic accounts Strong commercial instinct with the ability to identify, qualify and close complex opportunities Confidence engaging at senior and board level across technical and investment-led organisations A genuine interest in biogas, anaerobic digestion, energy-from-waste, circular economy and decarbonisation technologies An entrepreneurial mindset with the autonomy to build markets and shape strategy Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to operate as a trusted advisor A collaborative approach and comfort working within international, matrix-led organisations Nice-to-haves Direct exposure to biogas, AD, waste-to-energy, waste management or broader cleantech markets Experience selling professional services, recruitment, consulting or technical solutions Additional European language skills Competitive salary 26 days annual leave public holidays. Hybrid working environment (home and office). Career development opportunities from day one. Extensive training and development programs. Access to industry-leading digital recruitment platforms. A diverse, inclusive, and collaborative culture. Annual incentive trips for high performers. A commitment to equality, diversity, and mental health through our THRIVE program. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion At Taylor Hopkinson, we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. We actively welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences — including those with disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, and underrepresented groups. We understand that everyone’s needs are different. If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process or workplace accommodations, please let us know by emailing [email protected] — we are committed to supporting you to thrive. Be part of a purpose-driven business at the forefront of the global energy transition. Apply now at www.taylorhopkinson.com
