About the Role – We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join the Newcastle Office. This opportunity is ideal for someone with significant experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing UK-based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial, and healthcare.
* Liaising with and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the clients' objectives.
* Conducting structural engineering assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
* Using software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds for analysis and design.
* Maintaining quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports, etc.).
* Managing multiple projects of varying sizes with attention to detail.
* Preparing high-quality technical reports, including structural surveys.
* Demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Having experience with Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
* Promoting the company internally and representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
* Experience with various construction types and building sectors
* Excellent report writing, communication, and numerical skills
* Previous UK consultancy experience
* Full clean driving license
