Project Building Surveyor
* Hourly rate: £40-£50 dependent on experience.
* Location: Manchester
* Job Type: Full-time
* Length of role: Initial 6 months
We are seeking a Project Building Surveyor who is driven, commercially focused, and possesses excellent project management skills. This role is based within the Capital Programmes and Procurement Service of the Corporate Services Directorate at Manchester City Council. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering technical projects that comply with relevant legislation and help achieve the Council’s corporate aims and objectives.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Lead smaller projects and assist on larger commissions, addressing complex technical, procedural, and legislative matters.
* Manage the delivery of work packages, ensuring technical solutions meet customer and legislative requirements.
* Develop, design, and implement customer-focused solutions, continually identifying opportunities to improve service provision.
* Analyse and interpret legislation, presenting complex technical matters clearly to a range of stakeholders.
* Manage internal and external relationships to secure stakeholder commitment and ensure effective delivery of work packages.
* Coordinate resources to support 'joined up' communication and achieve efficiencies in service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Commercial experience in a construction project-related environment.
* A qualification in a relevant commercial or construction-related discipline (e.g., HNC/HND, BSc, MSc) or equivalent experience.
* Strong project management skills, including financial management to monitor and control budgets.
* Understanding of building contracts and best practice within the construction industry.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively transferring key information to all levels of staff.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to gain full membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., MRICS).
