Contract AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Remote Working with occasional travel to Portsmouth, Hampshire
Duration: 3-6 Month Contract
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
We're working with a SaaS business that requires an experienced contract AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance its hybrid cloud infrastructure environment. This is a hands-on contract role focused on AWS, infrastructure automation, security, networking, and supporting a mix of cloud and on-premise platforms.
You'll be joining an established engineering function and will be expected to contribute from day one. The role is primarily remote; however, applicants must be within reasonable commuting distance of Portsmouth as occasional travel to the company's data centre facilities will be required.
Required Experience
* Strong commercial experience supporting AWS infrastructure environments.
* Experience designing, deploying and administering AWS services.
* Good understanding of hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
* Support high-availability environments and disaster recovery requirements.
* Maintain and improve the security, performance, resilience and cost-efficiency of cloud infrastructure.
* Experience working with software engineering teams in an Agile environment.
* Working alongside engineering teams to improve DevOps practices and automation.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage technical deliverables.
Key Technical Skills
Candidates should have strong experience in several (not all) of the following:
* AWS (EC2, VPC, Transit Gateway)
* Docker / ECS
* Terraform, Ansible or AWS CDK
* Cloudflare
* Windows Server / IIS
* Linux administration
* Networking, including switching, load balancing and firewalls.
* Experience working within ISO27001, PCI-DSS or similar security-focused environments.
* Infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise.
