Head of People

£75,000 – £80,000 + 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
Bright Selection is delighted to be supporting an established regional social care provider in the appointment of a Head of People.

The Role
* Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Executive Team, the Head of People will lead the HR function from Head Office, managing an established team and partnering across Operations, Finance and other key departments.
* This role calls for a visible, hands-on leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to the operational realities of a multi-site care environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver the People Strategy, providing clear workforce insight and direction at senior level.
* Oversee recruitment, succession planning and retention initiatives, reducing vacancies and agency reliance.
* Drive engagement, wellbeing and leadership development across the group.
* Lead learning and development strategy, including induction, training platforms and career pathways.
* Ensure compliance with employment law, CQC and Home Office regulations, managing complex employee relations matters.
* Oversee HR operations including sponsorship compliance, payroll liaison, pay reviews, reporting and budget management.
About You
* CIPD Level 5 minimum (Level 7 preferred) with strong generalist HR expertise.
* Experience within a multi-site operational environment; social care experience desirable but not essential.
* Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
* Confident managing complex ER cases independently.
* Exposure to sponsorship compliance or willingness to develop expertise quickly.
* Highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
This position requires a consistent presence at Head Office with regular visits to services. Applicants should live within a reasonable commute of Hertfordshire to ensure long-term sustainability in the role.
