Role Responsibilities:
* Supporting the Head Chef for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
* Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
* Supporting in the preparation, planning, and cooking of meals to a consistently high standard, considering any special requests or dietary requirements.
* Assisting in food service.
* Preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets.
* Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
* Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
* Following Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures at all times.
* Taking charge of the department in the Head Chef’s absence to ensure service requirements are met.
* Assisting the Head Chef with researching and creating new menus that ensure high quality and promote healthy eating guidelines.
* Filling out all paperwork related to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP), including fridge temperatures, food temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.
Minimum Requirements:
* Must be 18 years or older.
* GCSE or equivalent in English.
* City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) in Basic Food Preparation and Cooking.
* Basic Food Hygiene certification (essential).
* Previous experience in a similar environment.
* Experience in delivering mass catering services.
* Experience in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budgeting.
Workplace Details:
You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility providing care for men and women with complex mental health needs.
The hospital is divided into four distinct areas:
* Male Autism Service for adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
* Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties.
* Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental and physical health needs.
* Low secure care setting for men with mental illness, with or without personality disorder/mild learning disabilities.
You will collaborate with the team to improve mental health and wellbeing, helping service users develop and maintain healthy relationships. The centre aims to reduce risk behaviors associated with mental health conditions so patients can live successful, fulfilling lives within the community.
