Operational Support Officer (AO) - HMCTS Summer Blitz Project

Salary: £15.59 per hour
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, 5 days ON SITE
We are looking for dedicated Operational Support Officers (AO) to join the Royal Courts of Justice for a fast-paced 3-Month Summer Blitz Project. This role will support the management of court operations and administrative backlogs across the County Court in London and the South East, providing critical support to ensure the smooth running of the courts.
Important: Candidates must be fully available for the entire project period. No pre-booked leave will be accepted.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the management of court hearing backlogs for the London and South East regions.
* Process court orders and liaise with internal and external parties.
* Provide front-of-house and public-facing support, assisting court users, visitors, and legal professionals in a professional manner.
* Assist with court ushering, clerking and hearing support duties, ensuring accurate documentation.
* Scan, transfer, file, and upload documents to electronic systems promptly and accurately.
* Communicate with relevant parties to schedule hearings, serve documents, execute warrants, and collect fines/fees where required.
* Provide general administrative support across court operations.
This is a strictly office-based role; no remote working available.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to manage data effectively.
* Professional and positive attitude in a high-pressure busy environment.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills, particularly via telephone and face-to-face interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet tight deadlines.
Additional Information:
* A DBS check is required; we will assist with processing.
* Candidates will undergo HMCTS security checks which can take approximately 2-3 weeks, and start dates will depend on clearance completion.
* Candidates must be CTC eligible, including a minimum of 3 years continuous UK residency.
