The client is migrating the Electricity Transmission business processes from a shared SCADA system to a new OSI Aspentech/DGM Monarch SCADA System. This is part of separating from NESO (National Electricity System Operator), which currently shares the system.
The new ET SCADA will monitor/control approximately 350 substations, each comprising about 150 assets (connectors, circuit breakers, switch gears). Each substation has around 2,000 sensors providing asset health status and data back to the SCADA system.
The system will integrate with other business systems to reduce manual data handling, meet regulatory objectives to be more digital, and improve efficiency while maintaining safe operations.
Project Delivery
The project employs SCRUM methodology until the end of SIT, with subsequent testing phases following Waterfall. There are 4 SCRUM teams across five functional areas: MWP, MRTF, MTNC, SVC, and PNA (EMS team), comprising DGM, NGET SMEs, test resources, and external suppliers.
