A family run business trading for over 27 years, McCrory provides Design & Build Principal Contractor construction services for prestige clients in the Energy, Transport & Utilities Infrastructure sectors in the UK and Ireland. Clients in the last 20 years include The Irish Rail Procurement Agency, Irish Rail / Iarnród Éireann, NI Translink, Network Rail, National Grid, Affinity Water and the Channel Tunnel Group.
Overview of Role
The successful candidate will have a wide range of Project Engineering responsibilities associated with the pre-construction planning, civil engineering, building, construction (including M&E), and miscellaneous project engineering for turnkey building projects in Southeast England.
Projects include:
* Civil Engineering works
* High Voltage Substation and Low Voltage Distribution diversion & implementation
* Reinforced Concrete foundations, Structures and Buildings
* Portal Steel frame building, Cladding & Roofing
* Heavy Duty Reinforced Concrete and tarmac highway pavement finishes
* Services and utilities diversion and installation
* General building, industrial facility and office construction and fitout including full M&E fitout
Ideal applicant: 5–10 years’ experience in a similar sector in the UK and familiar with UK regulations and processes.
Applicable to NI Applicants Only:
* Regular travel to England required
* Infrequent travel to client sites in France may be required
* Flights, accommodation, and company vehicles provided
Reports to: Site Management & Senior Projects Engineer (“SPE”)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
Key Roles and Responsibilities
* Support commercial team with pricing and tender specifications
* Liaise with temporary works designers
* Contribute to pre-construction planning and spec development
* Maintain project quality and control processes
* Prepare monthly project progress reports
* Support procurement of materials
* Oversee engineers and documentation collation
* Support QA processes and document control
* Prepare H&S file and O&M Manuals
* Assist with snag lists and handover documentation
Additional & Shared Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project delivery team
* Support ISO audits
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Education: BA (Hons) in Construction/Civil/Building Engineering or similar
* A-Level: Math (B), Science (C), another (C)
* GCSE: Math (B), Science (C), English (B), another
* Driving Licence: Full Clean UK/EU
* Passport: Valid for at least 6 months
* Experience: Min. 5 years in infrastructure
* Software: Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, Windows
* Other:
o Good health (Network Rail medical may apply)
o Strong written and oral communication
o Independent and team-working skills
Desirable Skills & Characteristics
* CSCS UK H&S Test for Managers & Professionals
* CSCS / CSR / NPORS Site Card
* Strong academic attendance and punctuality
* MS Project experience
* NEC3/NEC4 contract experience
* Eagerness to learn from senior colleagues
* Positive, problem-solving attitude

Salary & Package
* Negotiable based on CV, academics, and interview
* Suitable for postgraduates or junior engineers (up to 10 years’ experience)
