The apprentice will support pupils with their learning, including small group work and interventions, and will contribute to providing a safe and happy learning environment. The apprentice will work closely with the KS1/KS2 lead, parents/carers and the local community.

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Hours Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm in class (30 mins lunch). 3.30pm - 4.30pm, additional learning time in school.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

Under the guidance of the class teacher, the apprentice will be involved in working with children to support the education, personal and social development of pupils and establishing positive relationships to assist pupils complete learning activities.

Duties may include:

* Support to implement learning activities
* Support to assist the development of skills to support pupils' learning
* Support in producing learning resources
* Support in monitoring and recording of pupil progress and developmental needs
* Reporting pupil progress to the teacher
* Work within the schools’ policy and procedures
* Working to the apprenticeship framework and completing work in a timely manner
* To undertake any of the duties normally associated with a Teaching Assistant to support with their training and development

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

* Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
* Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
* Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
* Adapt resources to support all learners.
* Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
* Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
* Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
* Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
* Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
* Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
* Apply methods of formative assessment.
* Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
* Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
* Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
* Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
* Provide feedback to learners.
* Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
* Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
* Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
* Adapt resources to support all learners.
* Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.

* The candidate will follow a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard qualification.
* This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College - South and West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A*-C (9-4) or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 2 Functional Skills in the relevant subjects.
