Position Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all healthcare team members regarding patient status and treatment response.
Reports to: Director of Emergency Services
Responsibilities:
* Performs head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy
* Assesses and manages pain, educating patients and families about pain management techniques
* Provides age-specific care, demonstrating knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and condition
* Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to prevent errors
* Develops, implements, and revises individualized care and educational plans
* Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical and manual skills as needed
* Performs treatments within licensure scope, ensuring patient safety and reducing errors
* Coordinates and supervises patient care activities
* Maintains accurate documentation standards
* Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs
* Communicates clearly and professionally with the healthcare team
* Notifies physicians promptly of changes in patient condition
* Operates equipment safely and correctly
* Educates patients and families about disease processes
* Adheres to evidence-based practices and core measures
* Uses supplies and resources cost-effectively
* Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education: Associates degree in nursing required.
Certifications/Licenses: Current North Carolina or compact RN license required. BLS within 30 days, ACLS and PALS within 6 months, HWC within 6 months.
Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, ability to handle stress.
Minimum Work Experience: 1 year in healthcare preferred.
