Overview
Community Charge Nurse - Community Perinatal Mental Health Service
As part of a multi-disciplinary team within a Community Perinatal Mental Health Service covering the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, the post holder will have responsibility for the specialist assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care during pregnancy and the first post-natal year. The post holder will manage a caseload of individuals experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of mental illness and will work in settings including the patient’s home, outpatient clinics and maternity hospitals within the area.
Responsibilities
* Carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.
* Screen new referrals, provide specialist advice to professionals and respond to urgent and developing situations within the caseload or via the Perinatal Advice Line / Duty service.
* In the absence of the Nurse Team Lead, take charge of the team and participate in the supervision and teaching of junior staff; mentor nurses undergoing pre-graduate or post-graduate training.
* Support ongoing professional development with access to internal teaching and external training opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current NMC registration.
* At least two years nursing experience as a Band 5 prior to applying for this post.
* A driving licence is required due to the potential distance travelled within a board-wide service.

* Hours: 37 hours per week
* Shift pattern: Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm
* Contract: Permanent
