About the Role:
Our Head of Science & Technology will lead the exploration and development of innovative technologies with the objective to create competitive advantage for Devro. This includes steering the application of material science, customer application science and process engineering capabilities in product and technology development projects.
Responsibilities:
* Drive the exploration and development of innovative products and technologies on a lab and pilot scale with the objective to create competitive advantage.
* Steer experimental work on new ideas using internal and external capabilities in material science, application science and process engineering.
* Ensure the successful integration of new technologies into Devro’s global operations and product offerings.
* Provide scientific and process engineering support to product development projects that enable the development of technical solutions to well-defined customer problems.
* Lead and mentor a team of Research Scientists, Application Scientists and Process Engineers. Ensure high team performance.
* Drive the rigorous application of scientific principles on a lab and pilot scale.
* Manage resources.
* Continuously improve ways of working.
* Foster the development of internal capabilities in material science, application science and process engineering.
* Ensure adequate protection of Intellectual Property.
About You:
* An advanced degree in a technical field such as Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Food Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology.
* A PhD is desirable but not essential.
* Extensive experience within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
* Visionary thinker with a passion for advancing science & technology.
* Results-oriented with a strong drive for excellence and accountability.
* Adaptable and able to navigate complex and dynamic environments.
* Collaborative leader.
