Overview
Over the past three years, our trust has trained senior non-medical clinicians as Multi-Professional Approved Clinicians (MPACs) to enhance our multidisciplinary team. The first MPAC cohort is deployed in Exeter, Torbay, and North Devon. At Moorland View, you’ll be supported by a Full-Time Nurse Consultant (MPAC), Liz Moakes, alongside a core trainee and a Foundation Year Two doctor.

Responsibilities
We are seeking an inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist for Moorland View, a 16-bed mixed-gender acute ward in Barnstaple, North Devon. The ward has a well-established multidisciplinary team and strong links with CMHTs, Psychiatric Liaison Service, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, and AMPHs. The ward is co-located with Ocean View and Meadow View on the North Devon District Hospital site. The post includes a dedicated office and secretarial support. Requirements
* Qualifications – Essential: MBBS (or equivalent); GMC registration with licence to practice; MRCPsych or equivalent; included on GMC Specialist Register (or eligible) or included within 6 months of CCT; Approved Clinician status.
* Desirable: CCT in adult psychiatry; postgraduate qualifications; training in educational supervision and appraisal.
* Experience – Essential: Experience of multidisciplinary team working; wide clinical experience in adult and older adult psychiatry; experience of audit and clinical governance.
* Desirable: Experience in inpatient psychiatry; proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care; experience in service delivery initiatives.
* Aptitudes – Essential: Excellent communication skills; ability to lead in a multidisciplinary team; ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.
* Desirable: Evidence of new ideas in service delivery; track record of implementing service initiatives.
* Management – Essential: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers; awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
* Desirable: Management training/experience; involvement in service development.
* Teaching and Supervision – Essential: Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates; support for professional development of others.
* Desirable: Additional teaching skills; lecturer or supervisor experience; clinical supervision.
