Contracts Manager – Groundworks
Location: Devon & Somerset
Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 + Package
Employment Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with groundworks and/or civil engineering experience to join a long-standing regional subcontractor, managing their residential sites across Devon & Somerset.

Reporting To
Construction Director
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall management of designated sites, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and maintaining on-site standards
2. Manage site teams, direct labour, and subcontractors
3. Ensure all plant, materials, and PPE are fit for purpose and available
4. Maintain both short- and long-term programmes to deliver projects on time
5. Liaise with internal and external H&S consultants, advisors, and auditors
6. Regularly update clients on progress and attend project meetings
7. Ensure timely delivery of sites within budget
8. Maintain close communication with commercial and technical teams
9. Source and recruit site teams and labour, managing ongoing training and HR matters
Requirements
10. Experience at Contract Manager level within groundworks (housing and commercial considered)
11. Strong programming and planning knowledge
12. Health & safety management expertise, including RAMS and COSHH; relevant SMSTS ticket required
13. Commercial and financial understanding
14. Full UK Driving Licence (sites across Devon & Somerset)

15. Salary dependent on experience: £65,000 – £80,000
