Thisplacement is based within the Psychosocial Team at Launceston Medical Centreand primarily situated in the Health Hub on Exeter Street in Launceston TownCentre. Launceston Medical Centre is a forward thinking, busy GP practice withan interest in health inequality, biopsychosocial care and innovation. ThePsychosocial team is led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a MentalHealth Nurse and Mental Health OT. There are two Trainee Clinical Psychologistsper year from the University of Plymouth doctoral course. The team includes theHealth Hub which has a team of non-Clinical professionals and volunteersworking in a social prescribing and community psychology model.


Main duties of the job

You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT) working across the age span, with patients presenting with mental health difficulties, socioeconomic deprivation and isolation, an array of health conditions including addictions and dementias, and neurodivergency.

Thepost holder will learn an array of new skills and receive regular supervisionfrom a final year Trainee Clinical Psychologist with supporting supervision andteam working with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. You will be part of supportingthe delivery of psychological and social prescribing services in the communityand embedded in a supportive and multiprofessional team.

Job responsibilities

The keyrole of the Honorary Assistant Psychologist is to support the teams clinicaland research duties and undertake administrative tasks, all under thesupervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

Clinical:

Supportingwith the preparation of the monthly MDT within the psychosocial team at the hub.This includes reviewing patient notes.

Assistingwith dementia assessments, writing clinical notes and scoring routine outcome andcognitive assessments.

Joiningsocial prescriber appointments and supporting drop in events at the hub.

Processingneurodivergency referrals including conducting telephone triages with patientsand scoring brief ADHD and ASD assessments then writing brief clinical letters.

Providing a first point of contact for patientsattending our Health Hub, with a warm compassionate greeting and attention topatient confidentiality.

Discussinghealth prevention initiatives such as vaccinations with often anxious patients.

Occasionalhome visits to enable short-term psychologically informed work as outlined byour Mental Health Nurse.

Yourclinical work will be conducted under the supervision of a qualified ClinicalPsychologist.

Administrative:

Updatingtherapy and community group adverts and disseminating as appropriate.

SupportingTrainee Clinical Psychologists, Social Prescribing, and MH OTs with clinicalnotes following group sessions.

Alltasks related to the clinical work outlined above.

Takingmeeting minutes.

Updatingwebsite and leaflet information.

Tobecome an expert in medical computer systems.


Person Specification


Experience

* Work experience with vulnerable populations
* Person facing roles such as receptionist, support work, retail
* Using IT systems in a work place
* Working in a mental health team
* Work in a GP practice
* Keeping accurate notes and records


Qualifications

* Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Completion of undergraduate degree in Psychology.
* Safeguarding training
* Data protection training
* GCSE/A level in English/Maths/IT/Psychology/Sociology


Knowledge and skills

* Full clean DBS
* Ability to quickly build relationships
* Reliable and consistent
* Ability to multitask and work under pressure
* Team spirit
* Biopsychosocial approach to challenges
* Good sense of humour
* Prior experience of clinical supervision
* Ability to self-reflect and understand own strengths/limitations
