Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Nurse to join the Sight and Sound Directorate. This Directorate includes Plastics, Craniofacial, ENT, Outpatients, Ophthalmology, Dental, Maxillofacial, Cleft, Audiology and Cochlear Implant, Urology, and Urodynamics, along with busy non-clinical teams like Main Reception, Central Booking Office, and Digital Records.
As a Matron, you will:
* Manage direct patient care and support Nursing and Clinical teams caring for children and young people with emergency and long-term conditions, in partnership with families and carers.
* Think quickly to manage patients through complex pathways from admission to discharge or transfer.
* Assess clinical emergencies and safeguarding concerns competently.
* Be a visible, approachable role model with high standards of nursing and professional behaviour.
* Teach, support, and ensure ongoing development of nursing and unregistered staff.
* Focus on providing the best experience for children, young people, and families by listening and implementing improvements.
* Lead in adopting new technological advances in nursing and paediatric research.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide effective leadership, guidance, support, and coaching to promote strong leadership within clinical areas.
2. Handle human resource issues, including performance management, recruitment, sickness management, investigations, and staff utilisation, requiring excellent communication, analysis, and judgement skills.
3. Build successful relationships with healthcare professionals and non-clinical staff to enhance patient experience.
4. Collaborate with the Patient Experience & Engagement team to embed involvement and ensure a positive experience for children and families.
5. Deliver high-quality operational and line management, modelling excellent communication and team-building skills.
6. Implement and oversee standards related to quality, safety, and clinical governance across your areas of responsibility.
