The City of York Council are seeking a Programme Assistant to support the work of our Communities Team.
The Communities Team operates at the heart of the Housing and Communities Directorate, supporting ward arrangements and working with elected members, community organisations and citizens to build capacity and co-design solutions to local challenges.
We are looking for someone who is self motivated with excellent organisational and administrative skills and enjoys the challenge of a role where every day is different. This role offers an exciting opportunity for involvement in key work programmes contributing to the council’s approach to supporting resilient communities.
You will be working in a lively front facing role and you will therefore need to have good interpersonal skills.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
This is a hybrid role which will involve remote home working using MS teams, office-based working, meeting partners in their workplace, and working in community settings.
The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition, we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
