Warrington Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Care Worker to join our Children’s Assisted Living Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of needs, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
The Assisted Living Service is part of Warrington Borough Council and NHS Bridgewater Foundation Trust's partnership in Intermediate Tier Community Services. Our core aim is to keep our service users safe and well at home, enabling them to lead full and independent lives through the provision of equipment and adaptations to their home environment.
The role
As a Community Care Worker, you will:
• Assess children for adaptations and equipment to support healthy, independent living at home.
• Work closely with families, schools, and professionals to ensure holistic care.
• Promote independence, inclusion, and well-being in line with each child’s voice.
What We’re Looking For Ideally, we’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with children in settings such as Health, Education, SEND or other paediatric/children’s services.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of disabilities and long-term health conditions in children.
• Has an understanding of equipment and adaptations for disabilities and long-term health conditions.
• Is empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusive practice.
• Can work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post is 23 hours per week (contracted) with the opportunity for occasional overtime.
Day to day, you will be based from our modern offices at 1 Time Square, working with our Senior IMC Therapist for Paediatrics to assess service users for equipment and adaptations.
You will interact, liaise and collaborate with other professionals involved in the care of children and young people from across the council, health and social care partners, and external agencies such as Private Sector Housing, Housing Associations, and education providers across Warrington. The role is diverse, with a lot of opportunity for continuing professional development.
