Established in 2022, Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT) Special Projects is the advanced engineering division of the Aston Martin Racing Performance Group.
AMPT Special Projects focuses on applying high-performance engineering, innovation, and breakthrough technologies derived from F1 to deliver projects outside of Formula One.
With a portfolio spanning automotive and non-automotive sectors, we seek driven, world-class engineers to join us in solving complex challenges beyond the racetrack.
We have a new opportunity for a Composite Design Engineer to join our AMPT Special Projects team.
As a Composite Design Engineer, you will deliver high-performance composite components from concept to production, supporting innovative developments and next-generation applications.
You will also represent AMPT externally, maintaining high technical and professional standards with customers, partners, suppliers, and institutions.
Your responsibilities include:
* Designing and developing composite components from concept through to production, including packaging, surfacing, and tooling.
* Producing detailed CAD models, assembly drawings, and laminate specifications.
* Collaborating with structures, production, and aerodynamic teams to ensure structural integrity and performance.
* Driving continuous improvement through testing and design refinement.
* Resolving technical issues during manufacturing, testing, and development.
* Supporting project planning, mass tracking, compliance, and progress reporting.
* Contributing to innovation, patent applications, and best practices.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport Engineering, or similar (2:1 or above).
* Experience in Formula 1, high-level motorsport, or a leading tech/engineering company.
* Proficiency in CATIA V6/3DX, with surfacing and solid modelling skills.
* Knowledge of GD&T, composite materials, lightweight design principles, and fastener selection.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Project, Power BI).
* Ability to manage pressure, adapt to change, and work collaboratively.
* Effective communication skills with a proactive, professional approach.
* Commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
* Willingness to travel as needed, with flexibility and adaptability.
This is a full-time, office-based role at our Silverstone campus, with potential travel to other locations.
