We are looking for multiple Design and Release Engineers to work in Dearborn. These roles are % onsite. The Design Release Engineers (DRE) drives system level design and engineering work on projects from concept to production.
Roles:
1. Plans and formulates workflow of self and others to meet specified deadlines with minimum of supervision.
2. Has engineering responsibility and can lead specific phases of projects, technical studies, specification writing, establishing technical plans.
3. Develops, coordinates development plans and drives own engineering activities accordingly. Plans, initiates, and coordinates other activities such as analysis, mechanical development, procurement, quality management.
4. Can initiate and coordinate and participate in design FMEA's in a technical role (not as a moderator).
5. Co-ordinates project meetings, design reviews and sign off reviews.
6. Responsibility for reports and presentations (internal and to customer)
7. Resolves engineering and design conflicts. Being able to judge when to escalate to project management, chief engineer, etc.
8. Maintain interface with other systems of the overall project.
9. Owns all system engineering tasks relating to system responsibility
10. Architecture
11. Resolving design constraints and establishing interfaces
12. DFMEA's, DVPR's
13. BOM input
14. Coordinating input from other skill teams as required analysis
15. Supplier negotiations and lead-time planning
16. Change management
17. Customer interface
18. Drives release/sign-off process and makes sure that all activities are planned, executed and targets met for release according to project timing plan
19. Makes sure that all design, analysis, and mech. dev. deliverables are met according to project timing plan
20. Able to coordinate work to meet tight deadlines
21. Awareness of costs and budgets
22. Lead and author single team proposals
23. Provide engineering leadership to project team
24. All other duties/responsibilities as required
Qualifications/Skills:
25. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
26. Master's degree preferred
27. -+ years' experience in powertrain design
28. Excellent knowledge of more than one area of engine systems
29. CAD skills, preferable Catia V, (not required but would be an advantage)
30. Can lead system engineering process
31. P-diagrams and boundary diagrams
32. DFMEA's
33. DVP&R
34. Supplier negotiations
35. Team leader skills
36. Communication and presentation skills
37. Effectively communicates to customers
38. Good understanding of CAE tools and practices
39. Good understanding of mechanical development
40. Understanding of quality management tools
